Nature
Is
Invaluable

We’re building a future where nature and business are in balance – by incentivising the regeneration of biodiversity at scale.

The opportunity

Biodiversity matters. In fact, more than half of global GDP depends on it. Economies and societies around the world need our planet’s diverse plant and animal life to create the products and services we take for granted. Protecting and restoring nature is vital to the future of human life as we know it.

The opportunity

For the first time, investment into biodiversity regeneration is being prioritised. Financing is flowing to projects and start-ups that are creating practical, viable solutions. Financial institutions with more than $14 trillion in assets under management have made commitments about biodiversity loss.

Governments, companies and individuals around the world now need affordable, scalable ways to link biodiversity commitments and actions to real, evidenced outcomes. That’s where we come in.

Biodiversity has a huge impact on global GDP.

The opportunity

Our approach

Our mission is to provide the data people and companies need to invest in positive outcomes for nature.

Our approach
Our approach

Our approach is affordable as well as scalable. We capture biodiversity data on the ground using a range of technologies. All the data we collect is organised and analysed first with machine learning, then quality-checked by ecosystem experts.

We’re building the most detailed set of annotated, species-level biodiversity data ever compiled – while providing measured, quality-controlled analytics to show evidence of any biodiversity gains on the ground.

We can then link these measured gains to a variety of financial mechanisms – such as sustainability-linked bonds and biodiversity credits – enabling money to flow to those projects and activities that create the most positive change.

The impact

We link biodiversity commitments and actions to real, evidenced outcomes.

Evidence of real improvements in biodiversity is critical to the expansion of innovative financial mechanisms which fund the restoration of nature. Without this evidence, investors are exposed to the risk of false promises, human bias and reputational damage.

Our founding principle is that to create change, people must be better off financially when they restore nature than when they destroy it. Shared economic opportunity with local communities is therefore fundamental to our business model and our mission. By focusing on biodiversity, vast areas of the world become economically viable for restoration. And with gains in biodiversity, the foundations are laid for local communities to grow more prosperous and secure.
